We sit down together
What we both have seen will change us forever.
A mark across our eyes, imprinted.
A trust within everyone else had been severed.

We chose to tell no one, but they might figure out
Some have already learned, but have been put out.
Clenched to our chairs with a nervous shake
Like a nightmare that’s chasing you but you can’t awake.
A destruction of dialogue, there is nothing to say.
The mysteries of the universe were merely child’s play.
A hand over the weather and breath in the clouds
We know we must notify but did not know how.

So complex - so simple, the science of things.
A free bird is falling with broken, wounded wings.
With life on a stick treated as a prop
In a black and white film with the motion on stop.
The director in an easy chair loudly shouts “Cut!”
The time stops ticking, the world is corrupt.
We shiver, we stumble, we fall out the chairs
By the time we could tell someone - there was nobody there.
