Make Your Own News!:
by Leemonster

Become the media: It's not that hard.
In an age where it's obvious that the reporting and news is bias and untruthful,
it is not up to you to depend on them to turn around and start acting fair, but for you
to take action into your own hands.
Where a small number of corporations own multiple channels, papers and radio shows,
it's not unlikely that it all reports on the same view and lack of importance coincidentally.

Grassroots media and do it yourself guerilla-style news. There is no depending on anybody
else to take it and make a change while others sit and expect their absence to not be ignored.
Everybody who sits and expects things to happen without them IS making a negative impact
and every number does count. It really is not that hard, I will get to some ways to make this effect,
and I'm sure there are other examples you can think of as well.
TV is obsolete now. Companies can pretty much buy just as much airtime, networks and what
have you as much as they would like. They don't call it "quality programming" for nothing.
Also, the cheesy grinned news reporters are just handed and fed information. Fair and balanced is
the complete opposite. CNN, Faux, all of them except maybe C-Span are guilty of puppet strings
being attached. Unless you have the capability of having access to tampering with the media, maybe
getting some Real information lively fed into the airwaves. (I do believe there are a number of
people who can get away with this, and although the consequences may seem harmful, I still ask..
What's stopping you?)
When you cannot trust those who are supposed to be telling you what is going on in the world and how
to put an end to the negativities, then you must become the media. From Osama number one in the orange
box or Osama number two behind door number eight, nobody can trust any of these people with
microphones and pearly diamonds on the nightly news.

Gather:
Get to know local people who care about the same issues as you  do.
You can do this solo, but usually when you gather a group of people you can watch each other's
backs while informing other people about what is really going on in the world  today. This works
from anything to cop watches to handing out flyers or protests. Whatever your mind can come up with.

Flyers:
One of the easiest ways is to start making flyers. You can come up with a design and flyer of your own
with some important points and messages on it. You can also find a whole bunch online if you start searching.
Usually you will want to have some sort of website address listed on the flyer.
Go to staples or somewhere cheap where you can make the copies yourself and start printing away.
Black and white copies are very inexpensive to make.
Hanging them up? Well, there are bulletin boards… thumbtacks, staple gun. Telephone poles…
staple gun.
Blank walls. You can useWheat paste to get the flyers up onto pretty much anything.
A more effective thing as well, is getting scrap boards and spray painting a bright color as the
background, with a short and simple message over it like "911truth.org"  "No ID Cards" or whatever
issue you're concerned about. You can leave the board like that and lean it in a public place like near
a highway or building, or put a post against the sign so it sits up higher. They work well on public
busses as well, and other places you're not supposed to get to. But I never said that ;)

Contact: Contact your local congress people. They'll either actually be there for the people or just be a
bunch of bullshitters, but either way you should make them listen to the people. That's what they're
supposed to be there for and if we show no backbone, then it can only get worse. Writing to the
president won't do anything at all more than likely, since the guy can't read a book the right side up,
but the more local you get, the more of a chance you will have an effect, and you can start building
upward from there. Back to Tv, the news is ugly and sickening like a dead bloated rat on the side of
the street with puss coming out, that's what I think when I picture Bill O'Reilly. Some of the shows have
call-ins, and it is an adventurous idea to call into shows and try to get out the corruption. It will probably
have to be quick and sly, as you'll be cut off quick for trying to get some real news on the… news. But
just so long as you sound confident in yourself and don't give them any ammo  to attack your beliefs,
then if you organize a call- in squad to call into a show over and over with different people, it will show
you are not the only one concerned about whichever issue is brought up.
You're probably wondering how to get through the air… well when asked about what subject you'll bring
up or what you'll say on air.. Just do what they all do… lie about it.

Internet: Even though my point of this is to get people to bring their focus onto the street and out
of their room, the internet is a very easy way to get loads of information out… just as long as you
can avoid script kiddies and disinformation. Make a myspace page with a ton of information on it,
you can find videos on you tube and video google then just post a ton of them onto your page and
put messages of the urgency involved. After you get a page together you have to spam the shit out
of it and let many people who might now have questioned this kind of stuff before start to get an insight.
Don't be a jerk about it if they're pissy to you, because you'd probably be the same in their position.
This goes for as out on the streets as well. The thing is that people need to respect one another's viewpoints,
and some of these people have been watching tv news for years and still think it's an accurate portrayal of what
is going on in the world. Use your strong points in conversing and let them know your passion and care for
what is going on in the world.
You can join forums and look up meets where you can find other people, just make sure they are not dick cheney or hillary clinton behind a fake screen name, because they WILL eat you.

DVDs: This'll be something you want to save up before doing possibly, depending on how many
you want to distribute. There are a lot of videos out there you can get off peer to peer and burn copies
of. A good example I'll use is "America: Freedom To Fascism" by Aaron Russo.  Of course, you can
find your own or even make your own. Archive.org has a long library of videos. Maybe you can even
fit in some Immortal Technique songs on the disc if you have enough room. Go pretty much anywhere
to hand them out. Having others with you will save time and look more professional if you do this. Taking off
your "The only bush I trust is my own" or "democrats vs. liberals" buttons might be a positive, so nobody
assumes you are taking sides in the meaningless game of democrat vs. republican. Have a flyer full of websites
with the dvd so they can know other places to look up information.

Music: Play any instruments? With some of the "music" I hear on the radio.. I guess it doesn't matter
if you are musically inclined or not, people'll listen to pretty much anything. With that being said, music is
probably the reason I even got into any of these things. From Hip hop, to punk, and folk music, with
everything in between, there is no genre of music that has an excuse to lack some sort of important message.
Put your viewpoints into your music, cover art, your stance on things when people ask you a question,
wherever you want. Music is one of the best ways to bring out what you think and to get others to know about it.
Whoever says "Music shouldn't be political" Obviously never heard of Public Enemy or Neil Young.

There are hundreds of more ways and ideas to get your voice out and be apart of the change you want to see.
I'm encouraging everybody to go out and do at least one more thing to get yourself involved, even to the people
who are already doing it. Get rid of that "I can't make a difference" technique.
People like that DO make a difference, they make it one less person to actually make a change, wouldn't you
rather make a better difference?
Make your own news! You are now the media. Reality tv just got shut the hell off and now the concerns are out
in the open.
Thank you,
